Theatrical Storytelling
Telling stories can be done in many different ways. To make them more engaging, it is good to use all the elements that we have, in our body and coming directly from the stories.
It is important that the elements don't interfere or distract from the story, but enrich the experience.
Use body, expressions, voice: work on these elements as part of your training, instead of just reading a book.
Use elements to enrich the story, like a real treasure map, an umbrella for "Singing in the rain", a spyglass to find Moby Dick...
Use Shared Reading techniques to engage students and make the story more meaningful.
Connect the stories with the student's life: make an introduction, know what they are working in class, ask them questions about what do they know about things happening in the story...
